Pregnant woman ‘deliberately’ left on the phone with nurse, dad says

Posted November 01, 2020 09:10:13A pregnant woman has been left on a call with a nurse in a hospital emergency room after her baby was mistakenly played with in the middle of the night.

The woman’s baby was on a tray of play mats in a baby sign language nursery when a nurse on the line made the call, prompting the nurse to call paramedics.

The baby was unharmed.

The woman was taken to hospital, but was released the same day.

The mother of the baby, a baby guinea pig named Ergo, told the ABC the nurse told her it was her “deliberate choice” to play with the baby.

“I was in a terrible position,” she said.

“The nurse told me it was a ‘deliciously playful’ play and I had no choice but to play it.”

My baby is playing and we’ve had this conversation and I said I’m just going to play for the sake of him.

“She said, ‘no, that’s not OK, that was a deliberate choice.'”

The mother’s partner is now worried about her safety, and is considering filing a complaint with the Royal Australasian College of Midwives.
